New York (21st Nov '14) : A recent study by Gilbert Research Inc., a US based international human behavioral research firm released a report indexing countries based on their promiscuity. Though it sounds demeaning, but the research results provide a deep insight into the spread of Human Pappilomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted disease (STD) and its correlation to human sexual behavior.
The study defines promiscuity as 7 sexual partners for women and 9 for men. Any person who is at or beyond the definition would be under the category of promiscuous. HPV is a STD, not as fatal as HIV but has deep ramifications leading to Cervical Cancer at later stage of life and can spread despite the use of male contraception (condom). The data for promiscuity has been analytically extrapolated from the existing medical data of HPV 1 & 2 prevalence in each country of the planet.
The medical algorithm applied on the existing data, shows United Kingdom (UK) as the most promiscuous country for the women, where promiscuity index (PI) for women was 52 and for men was 47. PI signifies that 52 women out of 100 in UK have had 7 or more sexual partners whereas 47 men have had 9 or more sexual partners. Just trailing UK, on second position is USA, with PI for males at 48 and for females at 46. Third on the list is France with PI for men at 42 and for women at 45. European and North & South American countries have topped the chart with Germany as the lowest. German Men has PI of 32 and women had 31.
An interesting revelation of the study shows that during 2008 economic meltdown, the average PI for USA rose to 63 and UK to 58, showing the increase in promiscuity as a means to release psychological disturbance. PI for Asian countries ranges within 8 to 14 whereas was higher for African countries from 22 to 26.
Bio-engineering Scientist P.Peterson says "The study definitely shows a meaningful co-relation between human sexual behavior and its sexual ramifications. Also indicates the need for preventive measures to control the spread of STDs"
